Our Story

Well it all started 25 years ago with Larry Puckett and Ty Thomas, the two best dad's ever!!  I think they were so much alike they weren't too sure about each other when they first met at a fishing tournament.  But quickly, they became the best of friends and my dad frequented the Thomas household!  Dad and Dad became inseparable, forming a friendship that lasted through so many different seasons of life.  The one thing I personally remember during that time (I was 4) was silver dollar pancakes that Kim made for Tyler, she says she made them for years until finally even 50 of them couldn't fill him up!  Oh, I also remember spending the night and a big "stuffed" beat being over my bed. Haha!

This picture is of Tyler and my dad in the house we currently live in... gotta love God's VERY detailed plan! (I plan on adding more pics later, just using those I have downloaded at the moment)

So... life went on... we shared birthdays, hunting trips, fishing trips and meals with the Thomas Family.  And in later year's even church at Restoration and our favorite Sunday lunch...Panchos!  Don't gross out anyone, Panchos was awesome, Tyler and I grew up on it.
I can't remember what year it was, but at some point when we were young the Thomas Family moved to Wyoming for a few months.  I remember asking dad repeatedly, what we were going to do after church and HOW we were going to see them!!  Luckily, they moved back!  Tyler and I always got along and everyone said we had the same "sweet spirit" but thoughts of getting married didn't cross our minds often.  I say often because Tyler's best friend Cody swears he wrote my name on his notebook in the 8th grade, though I can't remember if Tyler has ever admitted it.  And when I say my name I mean "Jennifer Thomas".  Cute huh?  So I'll tell on myself now, it wasn't until my early 20's that I sent the Thomas Family a Christmas Card saying "yall are like family to me!"  and really wished it was true.  What a man of God and a looker too that Tyler had become!  And of course, it helped that he had the greatest family EVER, they were always doing things together, fun and exciting things!  But the timing always seemed off, he was dating someone, or I was... but we did become best friends.  We were inseparable, much to the demise of whatever nitwit we were dating at the time.  But we didn't care, our friendship was special and deep down we both knew it.  I think by that time both of us had given up on any "relationship" thoughts that came to mind but we loved each other enough that no one was going to come between our friendship.  Fast forward to May 2007

All I can say is that God changed our hearts and His timing is always perfect.  It was like, suddenly both of our feelings changed at the same time.  Our love deepend and changed and we just knew that we knew that God has chosen us for each other.  We had always completed each other, it just wasn't the right time until then.  We quickly started pre-engagement counseling as my pastor calls it, and started praying for God's timing on when to get married.  We got engaged on Christmas Day 2007 and set the big day for July 20th, 2008!  What a joyous time for us and all our friends and family.  The phrase "I KNEW IT" was common, I guess everyone had always thought we would end up together.  Big Shocker. LOL.  Kim had lots of good ideas and we had a wonderful time planning the wedding together.  In fact, almost everyone we invited made the event, I guess it's special to see two people you've known since they were kids get married, plus there were so many common friends because our families were so close.  I should also mentioned that we have the greatest church, pastor and church family ever.  It was awesome being plugged in and getting to share our joy with people that loved us and stood with us on our new adventure.  It was during that time that we became close with our BFF's, Jason and Stephanie Wesson:  aka our worship leader and our pastor's daughter.  We started going to their house every Friday night for dinner... games, talking and movies... whatever we felt like doing that day.  It was a great time and often we talked to them about issues that had come up in premarital and they were able to talk through it with us.  God is faithful to provide ALL the relationships we need!    And now some pictures of the big day -- best day of my life so far!  I won't even type about it because words can't describe it... all I can say is... THIS IS THE DAY THAT THE LORD HAD MADE, AND THIS IS THE DAY I BECAME A THOMAS!!  Still could cry just thinking about it!

Sooo... got a little carried away with the photos and still left alot of the special people out... but I think you get the point.  Two families that were "family" already, now OFFICIAL.  Our pastor married us, our families couldn't have been happier, the ceremony was beautiful, the reception was fun and wonderfully decorated... it just does not get any better.  These photos are such a treasure to us!  My bridesmaids looked beautiful!  The groomsmen looked handsome!  The best man gave a speech we will never forget!  Love you Timber.
A great time was had by all, as we've heard for months and months after, God truly blessed our day!
I'm officially a Thomas... and so the journey begins...
